A water leak behind the fridge caused the "Engineered Wood" floor to fall apart and buckle. Which needed to be removed and repaired. At this time, the home owners opted for a new tile floor to be
installed.

At this point in the demo of the kitchen floor, the homwowners opted to remove the small wall that was beside the fridge to give the illusion of a much larger kitchen-which it did that very well.

Once the old flooring was up, the water damage located, it was time to prep the floor for tile. At this point, part of the subfloor was taken up due to a one inch hump in the floor and the beam was ground down with a grinder and belt sander to remove the difference so that the tile would set evenly.

 Cement board, aka-"Wonder Board" was installed over the subfloor


The joints of the cement board were taped with fiberglass mesh tape and feathered out with "Thin-Set" tile mortar. The floor is now ready for tile.

 Once the tile were layed and allowed to set for 24 hours, the joints were grouted and cleaned of excess grout, then allowed to set for another 24 hours to set the grout. When the tile was cleaned of the grout haze, this new floor really started looking good.

The new tile floor really made this kitchen come alive.

The tile was also carried into the bathroom to make for continous floor. The old tile in the bathroom was small 2 inch squares that were white in color and was just too plain for this home.
